Nicobar Island is also known as the land of Nakkavaram (“Land of the Naked”). Car
Nicobar is flat with rich, fertile soils. The islands are densely forested with
coconut and betel-nut palms and pandanus, mango, margosa, and beefwood (Casuarina)
trees.

Cellular Jail

The Cellular Jail, also known as Kālā Pānī (Black Water), was a colonial
prison. The prison was used by the British especially to exile political
prisoners to the remote archipelago. Many unforgettable recusants such as
Batukeshwar Dutt and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, among others, were imprisoned
here during the struggle for India’s independence. Today, the complex serves as
a national memorial monument.

Swaraj Island (Havelock Island)

Havelock Island, is the most visited of the islands, with the most (although
still minimal) infrastructure. Beautiful beaches, great snorkeling, and scuba
diving.

Rutland Island,

Rutland Island is a pristine, non-polluted, and least visited island.
Beautiful Mangrove forests and coral reefs welcome you to the 274 sq. km
island. There is also a 45-acre Totani Resort which has quaint little huts
which can be used as a base camp for exploring the island. It is the ideal
place for eco-tourists.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island

Ross Island

Ross Island It was previously known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island.
It was the seat of the British administration. This is the island from where
the British governed the entire Andaman Islands and set up a colony on this
island. The Indian Navy currently manages the island and the island is open to
tourist visits. A boat ride is required to reach Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
Island from the Rajiv Gandhi water sports complex. The island is closed to
tourists on Wednesday.

Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar Beach is a beautiful untouched clean beach located on the western
coast of Havelock Island. It is also known as an infinite beach, Radhanagar was
voted the best beach in Asia in 2004 and is now considered one of the top 100
beaches in the world.  Radhanagar beach was awarded the prestigious blue
flag certification in the year 2020. The Blue Flag certification is a globally
recognized eco-label accorded by “Foundation for Environment Education,
Denmark” based on 33 stringent criteria under four major heads —
environmental education and information, bathing water quality, environmental
management and conservation, and safety and services at the beaches.
